About Us

"Let us start rebuilding!"

HISTORY

The Youth With A Mission Nehemiah House, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was established in June 1996 by Michael and Noli Casey, who are missionaries of the larger organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM).

The mission and purpose of the Nehemiah House is to provide support and care for sexually abused female youth between the ages of 7 and 18 years old in Region X of the Philippines. This region encompasses several provinces and cities in the southern part of the Philippines.

Originally, the organization operated three separate homes or shelters – one located in Cagayan De Oro City, another in Malaybalay City, and a third in Gingoog City. These homes were intended to offer a safe, nurturing environment and rehabilitative services for the sexually abused girls under their care.

However, due to challenges such as lack of sufficient staff/manpower and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the homes in Malaybalay City and Gingoog City have had to close down. These two former home locations now primarily serve as campsites for recreational activities.

At its peak capacity, the combined three homes were able to serve up to 54 girls and accommodate 20 staff members who provided care and support services.

The name “Nehemiah House” was chosen in reference to the biblical figure Nehemiah, known for his dedication to rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem in order to protect and restore his people. Similarly, the Nehemiah House aims to “rebuild” and restore the lives of the sexually abused young women under our care, providing them a safe place for healing and justice.
